A rebus is a puzzle where some words are represented by pictures. See if you can read the nursery rhymes.
Activity
You are going to make a powerpoint of two rebus nursery rhymes to read with kindergarten students.
Please choose two nursery rhymes from the selection below. You could choose to do all three verses of Jack and Jill and that would count as your two nursery rhymes.
Follow these steps:
1. Select your two nursery rhymes.
2. Download and open the worksheet below.
3. Open Powerpoint and make a title page. Save it with your name+nursery rhymes in the class folder.
4. Write one line of the rhymes on each page until you are finished. You may copy and paste the lines from the word document or type them yourself. Save often.

5. Time to make the pictures. Work on one rhyme and finish it before starting a second.
6. Work out which words you can replace with a picture. Usually nouns are easier to replace than verbs.
7. There are outline pictures that can be imported into KidPix and coloured. Export each picture as you finish it to your picture folder. Call it something you will recognise. You can also draw your own pictures. Your choice!
8. When all your pictures are complete, open your powerpoint presentation and replace words with pictures. You will need to remove backgrounds, crop and resize your pictures to fit into the sentence. Perhaps you will need to resize the font as well. (Hint: The font size should be the same on all your pages except the title page.)
9.You may add pictures of your creation to pages or borders.
