Where are cockroaches found?
Have you seen cockroaches in your house?
They can be found in many places.
Best of all, they like places where food is prepared or eaten.
Cockroaches will eat almost anything.
They will eat scraps of food from the floor and they will eat plants.
They will eat paper or your leftover dinner.
You don't see most cockroaches because they hide in the day and come out when it is dark.
These insects can be found in almost every country of the world.
There are about 4,000 types (species) of cockroaches.

Families
Sometimes you might find baby cockroaches in the house. The female lays between 20 and 40 eggs in a hard shell. She carries the shell until she can find a dark, damp place to hide it. Young cockroaches molt (lose their skin) for about seven months and then they are adults. Cockroaches can live for up to two years. |
Have you.......
read 'Cocky Colin' by Richard Tulloch. Not yet? Well you are missing a really great story. Colin is the bravest, cheekiest, cockiest cockroach in the world and he's tired of living in the dark. He wants to go where the action is! You can find it in the Book Bites Boxes in the library. Look in the box with the letter 'T' on the spine. |
