Procedure
1. Experiment 1. Two people sit on chairs facing each other, two meters apart. Each person will hold a broom handle horizontally with both hands.
2. The third person stands between them, holding onto the broom handles and tries to pull the broom handles together.
3. Experiment 2. Tie a rope to one of the brooms and loop it around the other. The third person now stands behind the person holding the broom handle with the rope tied to it and pulls on the rope to try to pull the students out of their chairs.
4. Experiment 3. The person, still standing, makes another loop around both broom handles and tries to pull the students out of their chairs.
5. Experiment 4. (if there is enough time) Repeat this process, making another loop each time.

Observations
Record your observations in your notebook. Make a heading, 'Can't Move Me!'. Write and draw, including labels, your observations. The following question may help you to focus.
1. What happened in experiment 1 - Did anyone get pulled off their chair?
2. What happened in experiment 2 - Did anyone get pulled off their chair?
3. In experiment 3, did anyone get pulled off their chair?
4. What is the easiest way you found in the experiments to pull a student off their chair?
